The main instrument track for this was recorded about ten years ago. I deleted it from my computer thinking it was no good. I found it again on a disc a couple of years back and realized that actually it was good which was lucky since it was probably the only copy I'd made of it. Joe Woodward used that instrumental track in his production of Ich Bin Faust. I've since added some instruments and written the lyrics and recorded the vocal. As the name implies, it is based on the character of Renfield from Dracula. I always thought he was the saddest, the most tragic, and the most interesting character in the book.
lyrics
Renfield Follows the Swarm of Bees
Shadows cross the barren fields
Renfield follows the swarm of bees
His deadpan face stares up at the sky
The angry mob has got him on his knees
He is held in the hospital
He eats the insects and the birds
He writes in blood upon the walls
But only he can read his words
If I could just start from scratch
If only I could start again
I could have been someone
Instead of what I became
Instead of what I became
Seward watches through the observation trap
He notes the smile on Renfield's face
He records his thoughts on a phonograph
His patient is not a text book case
The Demeter moves across the waves
In the night plague takes all her crew
A big black dog leaps to the shore
Renfield knows his days of confinement are through
If I could just start from scratch
If only I could start again
I could have been someone
Instead of what I became
Instead of what I became

The Painted Hearts have a sound that is like a cross between Bo Diddley and Lou Reed. One of the best bands I know. Great songs. Great sound - Konrad Lenz Konrad Lenz
The Wedded Bliss are a great band with a great songwriter/frontman in Randall Blair. His songs are honest, well crafted and touch a raw nerve. Fantastic stuff - Konrad Lenz Konrad Lenz
The Bodies, fronted by Liam McKahey from Ireland, are one of the best acts in Australia. I've seen these guys live and they're phenomenal. Liam's a first rate songwriter and this record is great. Konrad Lenz
